Connect Problem

Hello. I'm having a new problem when I connect with Compuserve. I have the SupraFAX Modem 9600bps. I have been linking to CIS with LAPM and from 300 to 9600 bps without any problems. Even flow control worked. I haven't changed my software and as far as I can see I still use the factory defaults, so I don't know where my problem began. The software loads normally. The program functions right up until I connect. I get the CIS prompt and the host doesn't seem to receive any future input. I also tried the demo version of AutoPilot, but when I get to the CIS prompt, again CIS doesn't seem to receive my transmission strings. If I do a "at\n1" however, I can connect to CIS but without data compression, or error checking. Does anyone have any idea's what may have caused this? Thank you in advance. Regards, Henry

I seem to have the same problem. I have a Supra Fax modem and CIS immediately hangs up on me when I connect unless I first issue a AT\N command to disable data compression. It is not a software problem since I have used a multitude of different programs with the same result. Without data compression I get a bunch of garbage when I disconnect. I would consider using Autopilot but since I cannot issue manual commands before I dial I cannot even connect using that program.

Gregory, you can issue "manual commands" of a sort. Select "Setup" from the main screen, then tailor the modem commands required to make your installation work to your hearts content. If your modem requires AT\N, then put that in the "Modem Initialization" gadget. I hope this helps. Brian bjbart@watnxt01.ucr.edu
