John: The ImMIX VideoCube uses the SCSI chain to interface with the Mac that controls it. The additional storage modules (hard drives) and archiving tape devices are also in the SCSI chain. Right now, there is no way to hook up an independent device to the best of my knowledge. ERIC TEMPLE

That is interesting, Eric. So if someone wanted to and InMIX would release the spec, they could write an Amiga based front end, or IBM Compatible, Unix, NT, etal.? I have been wondering if anyone was going to do this with the Pinnacle Alladin, which is also _just_ a SCSI device. -John

John: Theoretically, yes. ImMIX is a Unix-based computer, from what I understand. I also have heard rumors that ImMIX will come out with an add-on 3-D DVE effects unit (similar to Alladin) in the future. Probably a SCSI interface as well. Eric Temple

Eric, Avid reports that they will interface with Aladin for true 3D DVE effects. -Mitch Hill/Hill Creative Services

"I also have heard rumors that ImMIX will come out with an add-on 3-D DVE effects unit (similar to Alladin) in the future." I don't see it as an add on, more of an upgrade. It would make more sense to change the video effects processor card (one of the four cards in the Media processor) so that it may perform 3d DVE moves. The ImMix current upgrade is a board swap from the composite/s-video to a Component-composite-s-video card. Ken
