#Networks

Does any one know if I can network a pair of Amigas and run ScreamerNet at the
same time. I'd like to share some resources on the Amiga side and still be able
to use SN at the same time.
I've got Ethernet cards in each Amiga. So, can I do it? If I can, what software
do I need?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Elliot
Yes you can, but you have to have two different ethernet cards in one
Amiga. They cannot both be 2065's as they will conflict with the drivers.
One card is attached to your network, and the other card is attached to
the Screamer CPU(s).

John,
Thanks, but it's not what I wanted to hear. Amiga network cards are incredebly
expensive, and I thought I had gone the extra mile to get two. I'll have to see
if I can get the third, or else continue using my trusty old SneakerNet.

Elliot:
It _is_ possible to use ParNet to hook up 2 Amigas while one of them is
hooked up to ScreamerNet.
In my situation, I had a 4000 hooked up to ScreamerNet, and a parallel
cable connecting my 4000 to the 3000. I'd been using ParNet before I setup
the ScreamerNet.
Once SN was installed, I got an error message on the 4000 when I tried to
mount ParNet. (Because they both are hardcoded to use NET:). Fonrtunately,
it turns out that enough of ParNet runs on the 4000 to allow me to still
use ParNet from the 3000. This gives me read/write access to all the
volumes on 4000, though the parallel interface is fairly slow. (But hey,
it's as expensive as a parallel cable. Far cheaper than another EtherNet
card! :^)
Hope this helps.

I heard all you have to do is hex edit the PARNET default file (the one is
S:) and change any reference to NET: to any other XXX: and it won't
conflict. I haven't done this since I haven't tried to use PARNET.

Hmmmm! Sounds like a cool trick. I may just give it a shot.
Unfortunately, I had to give back the ScreamerNet stuff once I was done
with the article. It's something I might need to consider in a few weeks
when I get my own setup going.
BTW, _loved_ the 'Deuling Deadguys' tape! Nicely done in all aspects!
