Interested in anyone's experience with the P-Vscope/WFM.

I have not heard very much about this board. This usually means
that it must be pretty dependable (?).

I have the P-VScope and am very happy with it. It does generate some heat
inside your computer, but doesn't seem to display any undesireable effects.
Haven't had to use DPS's tech support and I own a couple of their TBCs as well.
So I guess that my "report" would be favorable.

The Personal V-Scope is a very nice basic combo scope. It's all I
needed at the time I purchased it and still is great for quick spot checks
of a suspect signal. If you own or plan on purchasing the TBC from the
same company I would strongly suggest that you purchase the V-Scope as
well since the same software will run it and up to 6 TBC's (I think).
To address your specific questions;
It is very reliable. I have been able to take mine for granted for the
last 2 years. I wish I could say that about the equipment I got from Sony
at the same time !
I am unsure about heat build-up.
The unit comes with software for both IBM type computers as well as
Amiga's, and uses a PC type slot for it's power supply, so it should work
equally well in either type of machine.
I have never had to use their tech support.
And… The CPU/RAM load seems to be minimal though I'm unsure of any
accurate numbers.
Another nice item is a well made and quite easy to use remote unit
which will run everything, costs about $300.00, and keeps you from having
to switch back and forth from the switcher screen if you happen, like many
of us here, to be using a Video Toaster for your switcher.

I don't know if this is true o the Personal VScope, but some VScopes on a
card do not have an external ref capability. That means that they work
well for monitoring levels ans such. But if you expect to time your
system for frame accrute A/B Roll (match frame editing) and such like,
you'll need a unit with ex ref in and that can genlock to that signal.
Especially if you are timing into a Toaster since the Toaster strips
incomming synch and rebuilds it before sending it out. So you need to do
you timing at the cables the feed the Toaster instead of just looking at
program out. That makes a 3 input plus ex ref unit nice. You can time
the sources easily without cable swapping and grease pencils…
