#Amiga Miracle Piano

All,
Does anyone currently own a "Miracle Piano" for the Amiga? I understand
that Software Tools no longer supports the "Miracle Piano" for the
Amiga. It is currently only supported for the Macs and PCs. I've heard
however that the PC Miracle Piano will work on the Amiga if your willing
to locate and obtain a copy of the original Amiga version of the Miracle
Piano software. My wife had called Software Tools and they had informed
her that the Miracle Piano did not work well with the Amiga. Of course,
I found this extremely fascinating. Did it not run well because it was
not designed with the Amigas full capabilities in mind or was this
just an excuse for "Sorry, you Amiga users are not fitting properly into
the normal PC computer molds and therefore we will have to quit
supporting the SW for your system" (i.e. they're just not enough Amiga
users to warrent support)? Any information on this subject would be most
helpful so as to prevent me from making any mistakes I may regret.
Stuart,
I just sold my "Miracle Piano" for my Amiga. I thought the software
ran fairly well with the Amiga, so I'd suspect your guess is close to the
mark. Still, I wouldn't recommend it for an unaccellerated Amiga or one
without a hard disk (or 3 floppies!). My keyboard came from the store
where I worked… the owner got the PC software from somewhere & ran it on
the PC also. So I'd say the PC keyboard would work on the Amiga with the
right software. I've seen a standalone use-your-own-keyboard version of
the software for the PC, but the Amiga software requires the Miracle
keyboard. It's not a bad keyboard for the money… velocity sensitive,
full size, etc. It also looks to the Amiga as if it were a MIDI keyboard
hooked in thru an interface. So you could use DMCS or whatever to play it.
One thing I didn't care for was that you were limited to playing just the
notes within the keyboard's keys. My cheap Casio has a 4 octave keyboard,
but will play notes outside that range if you send it the MIDI note
numbers…
I have the Miracle Piano software running on my A4000. It works fine. I don't
know what they mean by "it doesn't work well on the Amiga."
