#Raptor/LW3.52 Question

Lance,
I have a Raptor (now a R+) and have experienced the same problems you are
stating.
1) Wavemaker – I have tried loading WaveMaker scenes on the Raptor Plus, and it
just freaks out if I have it in anything but independent rendering mode (what
acutally happens is that when I am in manual mode one of the processors seems
to lock up and I have to reboot, or the R+ simply shuts itself down – weird).
The regular Raptor did not have this problem – go figure.
2) I had this white screen problem back in June. What was happening was that I
would start a render, the Raptor would take about 13-14 minutes and then render
out a blank white screen (a real dandy sight when you have to have a project
out the door in 12 hours).
NewTek was of no help, and I was on a deadline from hell, so I deleted
Lighwave, reinstalled 3.1 and then reinstalled the ScreamerNet software.
Apparently when I updated my ScreamerNet Software I should have chosen
"Complete Installation" instead of "update". The update option suppposedly
screws things up – but of course I found out the hard way.
Anyway, my suggestion is to reinstall Lightwave 3.1 or 3.5 (whichever you have)
and then totally reinstall the Screamer Software – a new version is available
through NewTek as of last week.

Adib,
my dealer told me he got on the phone with Axiom, makers of WaveMaker. They
said there is something quirky in the software that makes the Toaster go crazy.
They suggested that I create my scene in WaveMaker without gooing into LW.
Save the scene. Shutsown WaveMaker. Go into LW and load the scene, and then
save it again in LW. It's a roundabout fix but it works.
Keep on Toastin'

Lance,
Thanks for the tip, I had simply stopped using WaveMaker for about three months
since it was going nuts.
I guess I'll give it another shot for those quick and dirty logo needs.
Have fun with your Raptor.

RE: Wavemaker & LightWave 3.5…
Actually, it is a bug in LW that crashes if you try to load a scene that
does not have a light in it (1 light is supposed to be added if there are
none in scene).
The fix is as listed (load and save, then reload in LW) or simply load the
WM scene into a text editor and add a line at the end that reads:
AddLight
That's it. Of course you can't send a scene over from WM to LW.
There is already an update to WaveMaker to work around the problem, but
you won't be able to get it from Axiom as they no longer have the license
to sell WaveMaker.

John
thanks for the tip on WaveMaker.

What about wavelink(rendering two machines) and 3.5(Standalone),does that work?
Hmmm,
That I don't know. I would recommend calling Axiom, but I don't even know
if they are still in business.
