#Flyer Demo
8 messages in this thread
Jim, FYI MegageM is trying to finalize this but it is a good chance we'll have
a few A4000-based FLYER workstations available immediately on release of the
Flyer by NewTek. Did you get a look at the FractalPro Image Library CDROM?
I've been making excellent use of it as a source of spectacular textures for
LightWave. BTW – I'd like to congratulate you on LightWave Pro publication.
Very good. I'd like to consider advertising there so I'll call Avid this week.
Daniel,
Thanks for the info. Having you been sitting on a few A4000's? I haven't seen
the FractalPro CD ROM. DO we have a copy at Avid Pubications? Thanks for the
kind words about LightWave PRO. You many want to read the thread in the NewTek
section of the Amiga Vendor forum about LW PRO.

Jim, I'm sure I sent off a CDROM back a month or so ago right when I got 'em
from the pressing plant – I've been getting great feedback from those who have
it but no one knows much about it as press releases still haven't been
published in the mags. It is CHOCK full of 768×480 24-bit IFF's which are
TERRIFIC Lightwave texture-wrap pics (I've used a bunch of 'em myself for some
WOW LW stuff). I'm sure I also faxed you a press release back in July. I'll
REPEAT both actions (you'll get a press release and CDROM sent DIRECTLY to YOU
this week). I just got another LWPro and it is great. Arnie Cachelin's stuff
on ARexx and LW (Arnie on ARexx in general!) is a high point for me. I love
ARexx and Arnie is the guy who got me started on it and pointed out how useful
it is. ARnie was my editor when I wrote assembly language articles for Amiga
Plus magazine way back about 5 years ago … I showed the LWPro issues to a
toaster friend who subscribes to VTU and he was completely wow'd by LWPro but a
bit taken aback at the cost – in this case I assured him he gets what he pays
for! VTU is great, but for LW enthusiasts, LWPRO is definitely the specialized
publication he's looking for. I repeat, I'd like to consider advertising the
CDROM there so please send the AD sheet. Thanks for your reply. Hope you like
the CDROM.
Dan, Thanks for re-sending the CDROM and info. I will look for it later this
week. Fax press releases to NEW PRODUCTS, ATTN: Joan Burke (408-774-6783) Maybe
we can get the info in the next issue of VTU. I'll pass your advertising
inquiry on to Mark Holland, the West Coast Rep. Have you received information
about the Video Toaster Expo in December?
Jim
I just heard about the VTU expo in latest LATUG newsletter. I'll be attending
their meeting this weekend for the first time (it's a long way). I'm going to
try and bring a system to show the CDROM there. Thanks for the info. I sent
the CDROM out and I faxed YOU the press release. I also faxed JOHN GROSS a
letter and a 3-page article on doing stereoscopic 3D animations with Lightwave.
There's a journalistic/commercial conflict as I discussed the AmiVR LCD glasses
video system in the article and I'm also the distributor thereof. But it is
interesting material and true 3D with Lightwave is gorgeous! Hope you and John
can discuss the article and let me publish regardless of the plug for my
product (or else somehow cushion the reader to be aware of the rather direct
plug). If there was more than one way to do video 3D (other than AmiVR) I'd
mention it, too, but there isn't as far as I know. PS – I forgot to answer you
about the A4000/Flyer availability. I have one A4000 workstation now in stock
and expect a very very few more. I hope to sell them AS Flyer workstations if
and when Flyer appears. It is VERY hard to hold back ANY A4000s with the
current demand.
Yo Dan,
I wrote a similar article and sent it to JG. Discussed the SIRDS tricks
for LW as well as the field 3D using your stereo glasses…. I'm not a
writer, but I play one in my latest screenplay ;-/
Dan, Thanks for the update. I did receive the fax this week, and I'll be
looking for the CD ROM next week. I'd be interested in seeing this article that
you send to John. Can you fax me a copy to the same number you sent the press
release? Also, are you interested in exhibiting at the EXPO? How about
attending the developer's conference? You can call Ann Pulley at our office
(800-322-2843) and she can send/fax you the latest information.
Jim
Daniel,
FYI,
I haven't seen the letter and article yet, (VTU is sending it my way).
Arnie Cachelin of NewTek sent me a similar (albeit short) article long ago
that I had hoped to use soon….
I am anxious to see yours…
