#3DS with ATI Mach 64 PCI
8 messages in this thread
All:
Has anybody had any luck running 3DS with the ATI Graphics Turbo Pro with a
Mach 64 chip? The Vibrant driver does not seem to support it, and I didn't find
a fix in the library.
Thanks in advance.

I just have one report about authorware smearing colors – nothing on 3DS (which
makes me think that it is working for folks).
Let me know more about your setup – look at the short file VIBBUG.TXT. Do you
get an error – what is it?
You might also try booting up plain, as well as trying some other ATI cards
(including ATI Mach64). If these don't work. The VESA Compatibles selection
might help get you through until this is resolved.
Hi Nik,
Thanks for the quick reply. I talked to Vibrant. Apparently the evaluation copy
I was sent for the article I'm writing doesn't have an updated driver for the
ATI mach 64. I'm going to try downloading it from the Vibrant BBS.
Cheers,

Phil…
I have a P90 with a PCI Graphics Pro Turbo (64) w/ (sigh) 2M. I haven't
encountered ANY problems what-so-ever.
I've been reading in the forum that R4 gives some people driver problems with
different cards (Matrox, Diamond, etc.), but fortunetly not me.
If you were a little more specific about your probs, MAYBE I can help. I'm no
whiz kid.
Note of interest…there are TWO versions of this card. An OEM version and a
retail version. The retail version has additional ACAD drivers (maybe other
stuff, too, besides a $100 more) which makes it mucho fast for CAD
applications. This is the one I insisted on.
Sounds like you must have config 'd something wrong by accident.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks indeed for your detailed reply. Looks like I found the source of the
problem. It's working fine now.
Cheers, Philip
What was the solution to your ATI Woes?
I have not been able to get this card to even come up on the test in more than
256 colour modes?
Phillip,
I just got a Mach64 VLB card, and it included drivers specifically for 3D
Studio. You might want to check out the Graphics Vendors A Forum, and see if
you can download the drivers from the ATI Forum there.
I'm still waiting for my copy of 3D Studio R4, to try them out though.
Eric
Thanks Eric,
Looks like I got the problem sorted out.
Cheers,
Philip
