Better paint and fonts

I'm searching for a new paint application for use with 3ds. I'm looking at COREL DRAW 5 and PHOTOSHOP 3.0, with emphasis on fonts that can be page-formatted before importing into 3ds. I'm open to other suggestions as well. Paul
