I am working in a multimedia company, and I have to create a lot of movies in 3D-STUDIO using men running, jumping, falling an so on. I would like to know if there are any availible meshes of that kind… With Thanks. Sus.

Sus, if you get Puppeteer by Schreiber Instruments you can import Biovision motion files to the puppets – these are optically captured skeletal motions of actual humans. Viewpoint sells a whole bunch of such motion files. If you are well-heeled you could send your performers up to Biovision and have them go through their performances which will then be turned into motion files for import to Puppeteer. If they are not suitable you can always create your own using Puppeteer's animation tools.

Martin. <<Puppeteer by Schreiber Instruments>> How does the program works? Where can I get it ?and how can i use it on the 3D-STUDIO? I need for example to create a scene of a man running and jump to a pool, how can I do that?

Sus, >> I need for example to create a scene of a man running and jump to a pool, how can I do that? << 1. Buy Puppeteer. 2. Go to Biovision in the San Francisco area. 3. Act out running and jumping in to a pool (don't think they have an actual pool in the building, though) 4. A few days later you'll have a biovision file to import into puppeteer and apply to your model.

<<1. Buy Puppeteer.>> Martin, Does the Puppeteer converts what I do to a Mesh? Sus.

Sus, >> Martin, Does the Puppeteer converts what I do to a Mesh? << no, it converts what you do to keyframes, I believe. Anyway, I'm hoping Chris Thomas from Schreiber Instruments will step in and give you some more information on the product "Puppeteer". I don't know very much about it, actually. Martin

Sus, Puppeteer allows for you to import your mesh character and then construct a puppet (stick man) that will become the skeleton that controls the character. As a result of the constraint based motion editing in Puppeteer, you have the capability to tie captured motion data to your puppet and then edit the data to suit your needs. The program does support motion capture hardware, or motion files from various vendors. Puppeteer can be used without motion files, since it is farily simple to develop basic motion with the IK approach setting different positions to the puppet at given keyframes. CT.

Chris. <<Puppeteer allows for you to import your mesh character and then construct a puppet (stick man) that will become the skeleton that controls the character.>> Do you have some info on the program? (Where and how much) I am really intrested! Sus.

Sus, Chris will have the info, but I will give it to you sooner: Schreiber Instruments can be contacted at: 800-252-1024 to order (they ship fast!). The full retail price of Imagine Puppeteer is $495. and the beta version 1.05 is shipping now (unless there is another new upgrade)…the manuals are not done yet, but you will get a 71-page xeroxed/stapled version which is enough to get a good start. It's a fantastic program IMO, can't wait for the final ship!:). Regards, Connie

Have you checked with Viewpoint? They are getting into motion libraries these days. They also have several human form meshes. — James — MAP —

<<Have you checked with Viewpoint? They are getting into motion libraries these days. They also have several human form meshes>> How can I connect them ? Sus.

>> How can I connect them ? [Viewpoint] << I have nearly run the tires off of my car in the last month, so my time on ASOFT has been limmited. Hence, the late reply. Anyway, what do you mean by 'connect them' ? Viewpoint sells both motion libraries and meshes, so they should be able to incorporate the two for you and send you a keyframed mesh file. Of course, the more work they do for you, the more cash you will have to fork over. You can leave e-mail with John Wright [76434,42] at Viewpoint or call them at 801-224-2222. — James — MAP —
