I haven't DLed it yet though, seeing what has been mentioned about
wordprocessing codes. I'll wait a couple days to see if you are able to get a
pure ASCII version up the flag pole. I'm sure the folks at the Barnett Opal
Mine out here would like to see it, they've permitted fee digging for years.

Is that Barnett opal mine in southern Calif.? I do not recall of hearing of
it. Might the opals be fluorescent?

Darn, we were out there today and I hadn't pulled the board before we left last
night, I could have asked them. I don't think the opal flouresces, but a few
weeks ago Richard Barnett mentioned teaching Boy Scout troops about the local
geology and included a comment about flourescents of some sort in the area. And
yes their mine is north of Mojave about 30 miles then east into the desert
about 5 miles on dirt roads exiting off Hwy 14 (the "Opal Canyon" sign is one
mile north of Red Rock Canyon). Since the mid 70's the Barnett's have had the
southern half of what used to be known as the Cowden Opal Mine. The Cowden
claim was taken over and became the Nowak Mine sometime around 1967. The Nowak
is still the north half but they've only been open sporadically this year.

That location is perhaps 30-40 miles from the Kee Kay claims near Kramer
Junction where common opal with the bright yellow-green fluorescence due to
uranium traces is found; hyalite from the nearby Shadow mountains also shows
this.
