Jim, I now have an AmigaDOS manual (3rd Edition) 1991. I got some advice from a
DOS expert and he told me it probably isn't a virus and the problem isn't in
the install mechanism. He thinks it's in the BOOT FILE. I'm looking in my DOS
manual under "Automating the Boot Sequence" p35-36 Should I try that? Also a
thought that I had about where this all started. Before this all happened it
was written across the top of my screen Amiga DOS instead of AmigaShell. Does
that mean anything?
Amiga DOS instead of Amiga Shell? I think that means….
When you start the Amiga (boot), a window opens for a brief time, tracking
the commands in s:startup-sequence. THAT window is normally called AmigaDOS, I
think (I don't work on exactly the same system as you have). Once the boot
activity is complete, that window goes away.
Later, when you want to work in DOS CLI/Shell, you're likely to click on the
Shell item, and you'll get a window called AmigaShell.
No great distinction in a 2.0 system. But the title hinted that your startup
sequence had not completed, and that's why you were still in a CLI type window.
Since then, you've developed new difficulties, and don't even get that AmigaDOS
window.

I've been following this thread for awhile. You've gotten alot of good
advice, however, some of it could put you in worse shape than you're
already in if you're not sure of what's going on. Where do you live? Are
there any good Amiga dealers or user groups nearby? Probably everybody
that has responded to you here could fix you up in a snap it they were
able to see what was going on. Try to find someone to have a look at it.
