I was a bit disappointed to hear that Anim Studio is not going to be here until end of year or 1st quarter. In Chicago I was a bit fuzzy on how working with a sequence of TGA's will work. Does it have to be converted to an AVI to paint in time on it?! Thanks David.

You'd best ask the Adesk guys those questions. Anim Studio is purely an Autodesk product. – G

Hi David, << 'cuse me? isn't this the Autodesk Multimedia forum? >> yes… << am I missing something? Where are boundries? 2D vs 3D? specific products? >> Yes again… Gary is not an Autodesk employee. He and his team, the Yost Group, design and implement the package we all know as 3DS. Gary's team has contributed to the product called Animator/Animator Pro. However, in recent months, he's focused on the future of 3DS. Gary answers IPAS Usage questions when noone else can and the same for 3DS. Animator Studio, is completely an Autodesk designed and implemented program and Animator Studio questions will be answered by Autodesk sysops, Nik and Brian.

In addition to what Jonas said, there are certainly clear boundaries here in the forum, both in the DL's and the message base. Here's an example of how the DL's are split up: Libraries Menu 0 *Forum Sysops 1 IPAS Usage 2 Autodesk Animator 3 Autodesk 3D Studio 4 Mesh/Project Files 5 Images 6 HWare/OpSys/Video 7 Utilities 8 HChem/CA Lab/Chaos 9 Index and Info 10 Software Dev. Kits 11 Education Issues 12 Take 5/Want Ads 13 *ATCs 14 NAAUG/UsrGrp/AdeskU 15 *Dealers 16 Animations 17 *MM Developers There ya go, – G

Jeremy might be able to help you on this. I would not be surprised if the answer changes before ship date – anything at this stage might be speculation. Currently, if you select the first targa file of a numbered series, it loads the sequential files. As far as saving, it crashes rather than saves!

Nik's right, anything could be speculation, but let me tell you how it works now. Animator Studio loads in a sequence of TGA files and then converts the files into it's own editable format. This allow you to view the animation and edit individual frames while seeing past and previous frames in the filmstrip. Once you are finished editing, you should be able to save out the files back to a sequence, but as Nik said, that portion of the product is not yet stable…more to come later.
