Hi
I recently purchased DC1 TV board. I have Pentium 66-Micropolis, 1.75 GIG AV,
Fast SCSI 2 Controller and 32MEG of RAM. My capture, with a SONY Hi8 Handycam
and S video, is very good at data rate of 700KB/sec. My export to video is not
good and my transfer to video tape of my saved movie is not the same quality as
my capture.
I can't seem to get Print to Video quality when I save movie using AVI
compression. It is somewhat jerky and appears to be missing frames when it
plays back (although all 30/sec are in saved file).
When I export to video the jerkyness goes out to the tape.
Can you help me with how you have been doing both or point me to someone who
can help?:
a) Print to Video
b) Transfer to video tape.
Please advise on the various settings and techniques you use for each. I would
really appreciate your help.

Arnold, a) Print to Video- First off the video you see on the tv monitor at
capture is not the quality of capture, only the loopthrough, if that was the
quality of the board they would charge alot more than they do. after capture in
video studio or pemiere play back the movie right away to see your captured
quality. When you capture, what are your settings? for best results capture at
minimun compression, never force recompression, what's your audio frequency set
at? If you are capturing 44khz,16bit stereo you will really slow things down. I
have found 16bit 22khz mono is great. I don't work for miro or ulead I'm just
speaking from what , I think, I know.
b) Transfer to video tape.- It's always going to be pixilated and a little
jerky, hell, it was only 500 bucks! For the price, you have the best. Until
they come out with a miro PCI, we'll have to wait. One thing I have come across
is that I have to move the audio track exactly 3 frames before the actual video
for the audio to sync. I also do not set a data rate and it works for me.Hope
this helps, I'm still thinking of other possibilities.
