A dominant business address in my files will be one complex that has numerous
buildings. The second line of each address contains the building and office ID;
that's the part I want to modify.
When I created the link, I left this second line blank. How do I add something
on this second line of each dependant record without breaking the link to the
master for all the other important info of the business address?

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to do this. When you link an address, you
link it in its entirety. One thing you might do is place the building number
in a field you don't use (like department or position), or if you use all these
fields put it in a custom field. Then modify your print templates to print
this out with addresses.
