I just downloaded your ww6 and dts macro – this is a *fine* piece of work! I
don't think I've ever seen a help file as comprehensively written as yours…
at least not in a macro/add-in. And talk about seamless…Kudos ! ! !
I have a couple of questions though. What I've done is modify the DOT file to
include my Letterhead, and renamed it, preserving your original. I also changed
the type-style of Normal text to be a font of my choice. When your macro is
finished running it basically leaves you at a point where you can begin typing
the body of the document. I personally prefer to indent my paragraphs in most
of my letters. However, the "style" for beginning to type is Normal – if I
change that, all text based on Normal will change. Is a way to insert another
style other than Normal as the "end point".
Of course, I can change the text to indent on the fly, but I'd like to simply
use another style that I define (e.g., Body Text), which (for me) is always
indented. I don't know enough aobut word basic or the macros to figure it out
on my own in a short time, so I thought you'd probably know in a jiffy.
Also, in the continual quest for streamlining, I'd like to delete the help
file, the ico file and the readme file (I keep these on floppy in case I need
them). Is there any contraindication to doing so?

Thank you very much; I appreciate it. The macro was quite easy to do as it is
based on a WordPerfect version that has evolved over a number of months. I
went to such lengths with the help file for a variety of reasons: first, so
that as long as it was read, there would be fewer problems for me to deal with,
and because I recently updated the manual for a piece of software, and saw how
important help is, and how important it is that it be as complete and coherent
as possible. I am in fact as proud of the help file as I am of the macro.
Your point about the "normal" style is a very good one. In the next version
the style names may change, but for the moment I'll modify a version for you so
that the end point of the macro goes to DTSNormal, which is based on "normal"
but which you can modify however you like without effecting "normal". I'll
e-mail the new .dot file to you.
By all means delete the help file, the .ico and the readme. The help file is
only worth keeping, once you have read it, for instructions on modifying the
.INI, but the modifications aren't too complex. The next version will have
thirty or so modifiable .INI entries, but these will all be modifiable within
the macro itself as Advanced Options under Defaults. I keep thinking about
making the help file available online, but I suspect that's overkill, assuming
people do actually take the time to at least glance at it. (The icon that
appears in the main dialog box is an AutoText entry, and has nothing to do with
the .ico file, other than that they look similar.)

Thansk fo rthe workaround on getting the ww 6 macro to end on normal instead of
DTSNormal. There appears to be a problem with it however. If I choose home
address and salutation, it works fine, and ends at Normal style. If I choose
Business, then it still ends with DTSNormal style.
I'll work around it for now and wait for the new macro – btw, when and where
will it be posted?
Thanks again for a delicious macro – would be nice to query the DTS for mail
merge (I know, give 'em an inch and they take a kilometer <g>).

Sorry about that problem with the second Normal, which should have been
DTSNormal: I've e-mailed you a replacement. It happen because I did a search
for "normal", assumed there was one, and just changed it. I've made sure both
are changed in the 'new' version.
The *really* new version of this macro will be posted in the Okna library, one
or other WinWord library, and a few legal libraries. It should be released
somewhere around mid-November (I want to get my hands on all the respective
upgrades to make sure they all work properly — that is, DTS, WinWord and
WPWin).
Mail merge, huh..? Stay tuned…<g>
