HELP! w/Hard Drive
1 messages in this thread
Hi,
I need some technical advice on how to get an external hard drive to work on
my Amiga 1000.
I'm a complete novice when it comes to hard drives. I've never installed one
before, and I don't know the first thing about where to begin. My system is a
s follows:
Amiga 1000 w/512k chip ram; 5.5 meg fast ram
(1.5 meg Spirit Inboard;
GVP HC8 Series II SCSI Controller card w/
4 meg ram– purchased used)
540 meg hard drive mounted on card
Phoenix Expansion Chassis for A2000-type cards
Workbench 1.3
Questions:
1. What do I need to do to get the drive going? I've
been told I need a mountlist entry for the drive,
but the 1.3 software doesn't have one.
2. I can't run the setup program on the GVP disk
that came with the board. It just comes up with
a message saying it can't find the
GVPSCSI.DEVICE. There doesn't appear to be
this file anywhere on the disk.
3. If I can solve the first problem, then how do I
get the drive formatted, etc.?
I realize that these are the questions of a novice; but I would really
appreciate some basic guidance, if anyone could help.
Thanks,
Fred Giacobazzi
