I recently had to reload 3DS due to a hard disk problem. Now I cannot shell out to dos, nor can I get the archive function to work, even when PkZip is in the 3DS directory. The Autoexec.bat and config.sys files are the same as before, and both these functions worked. I did run cfig386 and change the directory where the swap file is located. Where do I begin to look for the problem?

Good question. Since I'm a hardware idiot, I'm not a good person to ask it, however. Perhaps one of the Autodesk guys (Brian, Jonas or Nik) would know where to begin diagnosing that.

Hi Scott, << Now I cannot shell out to dos >> Do you get an error message? << nor can I get the archive function to work, even when PkZip is in the 3DS directory >> Check your 3DS Installation Guide, and review "ZIP-COMMAND". Is it uncommented, is pkzip still in your PATH? Post your findings here.

I just include a copy out habit.

*** Do you have a copy of COMMAND.COM in the 3DS directory? This used to be needed to do any shell functions. It probably is still. *** PMJI, but I am able to shell with command.com in my \dos directory. I have to use the comspec=c:\dos\command.com to do it however.
