Help, We currently have two machines networked with the intention of adding more. We use a Pentium 90 as the server (As far as 3D studio is concerned anyway) and a DX4 100 as a slave. We are able to boot the DX4 remotely and is is configured to map the required drives to the server & then Start up 3D Studio in Slave mode. Some times this seems to work OK, however we do keep getting a problem with the slave machine. When it starts 3D Studio it stops with a requester box which states that there is another machine on the Network with the same I.D number when there isn`t. This is a real problem due to the fact that the machine is physically located some distance from the main working area, and some one has to go and cancel the requester. I have looked in the manuals & cannot find a mention of this problem. Could someone leave me a message with an explanation & possible fix ?

Hi Ya Chris.. << Could someone leave me a message with an explanation & possible fix ? >> Sure.. This is covered in detail in the Advanced Users Guide under Network Rendering. There are many issues of concern in that section that is well worth your time to read. In addition, you should download the following file…. File Info for 3DSNET.TXT Section: Autodesk 3D Studio Contributor: 76702,531 Size: 42302 Submitted: 1/10/94 Type: Text Accesses: 440 Title: Confessions of a Network Renderer Keys: 3DS 3D STUDIO NET NETWORK RENDER CONFESSIONS The non-definitive guide to setting up 3D Studio network rendering. 12 weeks on the best seller list, this original manuscript was found in the attic of an an unnamed Autodesk Product Support technician prior to its being edited into an "official" document. The official document (more corporate) is also available upon request.
