#Printing rendering ? How
3 messages in this thread
Using 3DS3, I design some product, I have HP500C printer and I dont
know what is the best way to plot my rendering finish look of the
design. What Im doing now is I save the rendering like a BMP file and
load it into a windows program like photoshop or corel and printing
to my printer, the problem is that the resolution is bad on 8.5×11
(because it is like BMP with 72ppi) , and what if I need to plot it
real big? Any help? drivers or ideas (include if I need to send it
out for big plots like 11×17 or so) thanks, Shai
Your method is sound and should be able to produce decent results.
Try rendering your image to more closely match your output device –
the HP500C. If this unit can do 300 dpi in color (I have no idea of
its specifications) render a 24 bit TIF file at 8.5" * 300 pixels
(dots) x 11" * 300 pixels which multiplies out to 2550 x 3300.
Render it to a file with no display device selected. This file will
be huge in Mbytes and you probably would get satisfactory results
with 150 dpi as your multiplier. When you print out of windows make
sure you print the image to fit the page. For larger prints just
create proportionally larger image files to maintain the resolution.
If your windows programs support JPEG I would chose this format as it
can greatly reduce your file size and give great results.
Within AutoCAD there are methods that help the situation.
RHEXPORT.EXP as covered in your 'AutoCAD Interface, Installation, and
Performance Guide (pages 118-119). RHEXPORT allows you the user to
'set' the output resolution for a 'file'. For later use you can
always 'replay' the image to your screen for viewing. You can also
call 1-800-825-4115 and ask about our RenderPrint software.
