Does anyone know how to get Scala and GLock to work together. My Scala dongle doesn't pass the signal through on pin 4 like it's supposed to. Scala says it's not their problem. Ideas anyone? Thanks.

Ken, I wouldn't accept that response from Scala. They are the ones who insist on a damn dongle and they should make sure that the dongle is able to accept any device. However I have had very little response from Scala on this issue despite phone calls etc. I don't think they are very interested in the (if you are) home user. I had a similar problem trying to use a analogue joy stick through the dongle. I tried a splitter which was OK for the joystick but Scala didn't recognise the dongle as present in the other connector. Not much help I'm afraid. Andrew Letchford, Plymouth UK.

Thanks for the response. I agree and will hit Scala again. I did get a adapter for the parallel port to work but not the desired fix. I'll keep writing and trying. TKS, Ken

I know this isn't much help, but your problem is just one of the many reasons I absolutely refuse to buy ANY program that uses a dongle. If, however, I did buy one, and it prevented using anything else on the port, I would be INSISTING that the company insisting on using it FIX the problem. -larry

I hate dongles too, but Scala is pretty nice, it came with my 3000. I'll keep trying. Thanks, Ken

Kenneth, Been there, hated it, bet you do too <grin>… You have two options that I know of if you want to continue using Scala and the GLock. The one I settled on was plugging the Scala dongle into your first mouse port and then plugging your mouse into it. You can then plug the GLock (without dongle) into the second mouse port. If you do this, you will lose the right mouse button capability on your mouse. Fortunately, you can use a keyboard equivalent (RAmiga + RAlt) to bring back this functionality but it's admittedly not very fun. The other option you have is plugging your GLock into the parallel port. The ReadMe files that came with the GLock I was using indicted this was possible and gave appropriate instructions. I did not get a chance to try this out on the project I was working on due to time restrictions, but I would consider this a much better option unless your parallel port is already used! I have some rather strong feelings about dongles so I better not comment on Scala claiming it's not their problem… EdV
