Betty, Where can I find some directions on how to download files, or more properly, what to do with them after I decompress them. I have downloaded several programs, decompressed them only to find such messages as "cannot find your tool :c/XIcon" (requester) Other frustrating requesters are can't find Amiguide (even when the Amigaguide Library is on the hard disk (I think AP uses it). Can't find "multiview", etc. It seems I am frustrated at every turn trying to get these downloaded programs to work….. I'm about to throw this modem in the trash, and take up demolition derby racing as a hobby. 🙁 Thanks Hal PS: I hope you can help me!!! :') Zortchin' down the Digital Dirt Road, on Autopilot\____|\ o/~ o/~ Goin' to Kansas City o/~ o/~ / |/

Hal, you certainly have my sympathies. I've had the same problems from time to time. On the c/XIcon – check to see if you have a similar tool in your c: directory – maybe IconX instead of XIcon, or some such. For things like this, get the information on the icon by using the menu, look for the default tool, and change it to a tool that you do have (if they do the same job, like XIcon and IconX, or ED or More instead of MuchMore, etc.) You can frequently use a different default tool. Or maybe the uploader had his file in a different directory from where you have yours, and you just need to change the path. Whatever it cannot find, look in the INFORMATION about the icon, check out the default tool, and see if you don't have something that serves the same purpose, or if you just have it in a different place. Then, change the icon default to match what you have. Hang in there, Hal. You've learned a lot already. This is no time to give up. —Betty
