Accom drive help
4 messages in this thread
Dear John, (heh heh)
I've discovered a few things that seem to be able to put me well on the track
to solving the dilemma of tranferring files from our PC environment to the Unix
operated Accom drive.
We firstly tried the TCP/IP protocol transferred from the WFWG forum, but this
proved to be too limiting in its breadth of commands. We have now had confirmed
a communications package which will work called PC/TCP v2.3 from FTP. Accom
themselves have faxed detailed installation instructions, so I'm feeling pretty
warm and comfy in that area. Although we have not yet installed this software
I'm sure we're home and hosed.
One other problem which is not home and hosed however is the problem of
transferring a Targa file to YUV format. Is there a conversion from ASDG that
will do the trick? Or do you know of anything that might?
Thanks for listening, hope to hear from you soon.

( By the way hows Ricky? )
Ricky's doing great! He's deep in thought right now (sleep <g>).
Glad you got your Accom filetransfer happening. I've got a TCP/IP gateway for
Lantastic coming in the mail tommorrow or the next day so I can hook my unix
box up as well.
I think Gus Grubba's YUV IPAS should do the trick for ya. You can get a demo
version on the forum libraries, I think, but I'm not sure. Otherwise you could
call the folks that bought Pyros' dealership. I think the number is (714)
833-0334…

PS: Have you been slumming <g> with Beak, by any chance?
Good to hear Ricky's brainwaves are in smooth REM holding pattern, and (found
out, oops!) the Beak who is alive and well is totally absolutely responsible
for the reprehensible act of coercion resulting in possibly damaging flak to
the innocent victim….<g>
well, not totally responsible.
Yeah, Beak's good people and has helped me out bit here. He's currently in a
kinda paddy field place called Carrawang (pronounced krawong) and the last I
heard (yesterday) he was neck deep in a cesspool of antique silicon chips and
sundry attachments trying to make things work, but as this a usual state for
anyone in the computer bizz I guess its no big thing.

Not exactly in the bag yet but close enough to feel good about, especially as
various sources have all pointed in the same direction. Thanks for the
suggestion about the forum libraries. I'll dive into that shortly.
I just read this months CGW and noted that your using a MAX system. I had a
look at that at Broadcast Asia in Singapore and was hard pressed to make a
choice between it and the Accom. Obviously we went for the latter but it's good
to hear feedback from someone who has actually got and is using the product.
Sounds like it helps a lot.
Well, thanks for the note.
Chiou!
