Is anyone out there using CDK for development? I have contacted the local
dealers in WA regarding the product but they have only a little bit of info on
it. Specicfically; what is the learning curve like? what type and extent of
programming skills are required? how well does it integrate 3ds models? how
well does it compile and run in windows using only a keyboard and mouse for
input and the monitor as output? What type of projects are you using it for? do
you have any sample works that I can examine? Thanks Samuel Coor
Hi Sam,
<< Is anyone out there using CDK for development? >>
Yes there are..

I've heard recommendations of "Expect to use it for a few months before you
tackle a large project.."
<< what type and extent of programming skills are required? >>
If you're good at C++ and have a general understanding of animation, you'll do
all right.
<< how well does it integrate 3ds models? >>
Very well..

This configuration works. Some developers use a graphics accelerator card like
the SPEA Fire board to increase throughput..

Is there anyone that I can speak with directly who is using the program? And do
you have any examples that I can look at including source code and compiled.
My main use would be to be able to initially take my 3ds objects and bring them
into windows so the user can rotate, pan, and zoom on the objects. I would
like to be able to incorporate this"viewer" into an authoring package ie -Icon
Author initially and then tackle more difficult projects. I did call autodesk
and the dealers they sent me two were not that familiar with its technical
aspects except for that they sell it. If I do make the purchase and the PLUNGE
into it I would like to have some security that I can have my technical
questions answered. In terms of the learning curve, you put down months for
someone with c++ experience how difficult is it compared to (if you can compare
it) learning all of the functions of 3ds 3. And is the manual as superb as 3d
studios, and lastly are there any 3rd party developers out there. Thanks for
your quick reply. Samuel Coor
