<Flip girl> Jonas, She is very interesting..infact how about making a hi-rez version. I can't tell the brandname on her red shoes. It is almost hypnotic in the left view, but I don't like her bald head! The motion is both mechanical, and at the same time I see moments of grace. If you really want to, you could add the part where she takes a ceep (deep) breath, closes her eyes and gets ready…you know, to draw the viewer into the scene…and then releases all her pent up cyber energy into that 1 1/2 gainer, uh, I don't know much about diving… I see the potential and it is fun to watch. I want more. Did you set up constraints on the rotations of the figure, and is the script easier than just pulling her around with the mouse using IK? Sanford

Hi Sanford, << Did you set up constraints on the rotations of the figure>> I've constrained her shoulders and upper legs differently than the default mesh that ships with R4. << and is the script easier than just pulling her around with the mouse using IK? >> I didn't use Interactive IK at all. I used the "follow object" method. Her limbs followed the different dummies.. jonas[adesk]

Jonas, I will have to get R4 to understand that terminology. It will be a few days, I think. Meanwhile… my brain is buzzin. Sanford

I enjoyed the IK girl and learned a lot from you example, thanks. I was playing around and trying to make a mobius strip with IK. Just a flat ribbon like mesh that I could bend around and twist. I got it to bend around but for some reason I didn't get it to work. Even though I constrained the rotation of each joint to be from 0 to -15 degrees, when the strip was bent up and over, one of the joints just flipped backwards and collapsed in on itself. I could not even get it to make a simple loop. Never got to trying the twist. And thats another thing. Even though I never twisted th dummy object, my follow object twisted anyway. I obviously need some practive here…. Any ideas on how to model a mobius strip? Not a high priority, I was just relaxing and fooling around making interesting sculptures.

Did you make sure that joint's "Limit Joint" box was checked in Joint Parameters? >>And thats another thing. Even though I never twisted th dummy object, my follow object twisted anyway. I obviously need some practive here…. By "follow object" I assume you mean the bottom leaf of the IK heirarchy (that which is following the follow object) correct? IK is solving for rotations all along your strip (I also assume there are no sliding joints) in regard to rotation. IN order to bend and/or twist the pieces must rotate. Jonas' diving board is a good example – it bent over, just by rotation of the slices. – Phil p.s. Upload it if you aer still having problems OR if you succeed and are proud of it!

Hi Millard, << I enjoyed the IK girl and learned a lot from you example, thanks. >> It's my pleasure. I've very glad that you liked it. I feel like EdK, uploading a file, seeing the download rates, and not hearing from anyone.. Again.. thanks for the feedback.. jonas
