#Map problem in net rend
4 messages in this thread
Dear David or Anyone Who Can Help:
I'm trying to render an architectural fly-through using network rendering.
However, the ground object–which has a material using a texture
bitmap–renders very poorly at angles away from the normal (the effect is
somewhat similar to rendering with Filter-Maps set to OFF). What puzzles me is
that the same frame rendered "from the screen" (ie not using the network) looks
fine. This makes me think that the problem is with some parameter in the
3ds.set file on the server but I can't determine which.
All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
PD.
Paul:
There are a few possibilities for the problem you have. Could it be that you
have more than one bitmap file with the same name? Possibly one on your main
workstation, one on your server? When you render the view on on the network
workstations are you rendering to the same resolution as your main workstation?
Rendering to fields? Rendering to same file type? Same number of colors? With
a little more info I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of this one.

Hi Paul,
be sure, that all of the net-rendering machines are rendering to NULL and not
to SCREEN (check 3DSNET.SET files of all machines) . So all machines will
render the same size and color deep as you mean. May be that some of your
renders actually another color deep that make the effect you describe.
Hope it helps.

Hi Claus
The net machines are rendering to null but thank for the suggestion. Let's
stay in touch.
