#How change IRQ?
3 messages in this thread
Hans,
You can't render frames directly from 3DS to the dedicated PVR drive?
Really? I sure hope I'm misunderstanding this, because I'm currently trying to
get my new PVR running, and I definitely expect to render to the expensive
Micropolis drive I got to go with it.
While we're on the topic, can you tell me how to change IRQ addresses?
When I try to initialize the PVR software, I get "Invalid IRQ=0 Address". My
IRQ 0 is apparently now occupied by "click timer", according to MSD.exe. Any
insight?

So far I understud this thing, you must have an IPAS to render directly to the
PVR,
to have compressed Images on the PVR-HD.(the YOST-Group have it for the PAR!)

Nope, but we do have an IPAS that will let you control it from within
3D Studio, though! Does that count?

Because DOS cant access the PVR-HD's directly ( I heard that the NT-Version
does it )
you must use the PVR-File Manager <EXPORT<IMPORT Options to Backup your Images.
If you dont can Backup the PVR Drives, it seems to be safer to render to a
DOS-Drive
and then Import the Images to built ANI`s.
About your IRQ-Problem: so far I know you must change your PCI-CMOS Setup,
Section Plug and Play. Change IRQ`s available for PCI or ISA so that the Driver
can identify your two SCSI-Host Adapters.
(In my case its an Plato Board with AMI-Bios, my Adaptec was on IRQ11 and after
installing, the ASPI-SCAN(in Bootsequenze) says, that both SCSI-Interfaces are
at IRQ11,
and in Windows PVR hangs. I changed in Plug and PLay the IRQ11 to be not
available for PCI
and now one has IRQ10 and the other have IRQ15)

Thanks, Hans.
Late last night I finally thought to look in the BIOS, and found the
field to set the IRQ for the three PCI slots. IRQ 12 finally worked.
Sounds like we're in the market for another IPAS. I thought the
ability to render from 3DS to an animation stream on the dedicated drive for
the PVR was a standard feature of the PAR and Perception. I'm not happy to
discover that it's not. For that much money, I shouldn't have to now spend
even more to accomplish what seems to me like a basic function of the hardware.
Doesn't seem right, does it?
