#Animator Pro VBX ?
9 messages in this thread
To all:
Question from a user of mine, and I quote:
The version of vbplay.vbx that came with Animator Pro last summer doesn't
accomidate for key-color transparency of *.cel files. It's nice that it will
read *.cels as easily as it reads *.fl?s, but it can't compete with Macromedia
Director's sprite:ink associations, or realy make usable sprites at all, if I
have to deal with whole opaque rectangles.
Is there an update to the vbplay.vbx I have that will permit me to use cels
with a transparent key-color?
Any suggestions?
Thanx muchly!

Sorry, but the FLC or CEL file formats do not support transparency. If that is
required you might want toconvert your animation to a format that supports
that, like AVI.

Is there any documentation on this vbx? I am able to use it fairly easily but
do not know what functions are hiding inside the black box. One problem I have
is that my .flc will flash as it ends and I am wondering if I can realize the
background template first to prevent a flash or … umm, or whatever. 🙂

hi Steve. Brian's away for a while (moving). there is a toolkit which can be
purchased for $25 (i believe) which has documentation on animator development
tools. there are also some files in Library x on the subject.

we have very few resources here in the library on the VBX (and AAPLAY.DLL). you
may wish to search the libraries using keywords AAPLAY, VBX and take a general
browsing though the SDK and Utilities libraries.
i believe the flash on the flic is a known problem… but is a result of the
way the player was written and the way Windows handles palettes. we have seen
this same symptom in other Winapps.
let me know if you need info to order the ASLs for AAPLAY and other AnimatorX
resources.

I think I'll go ahead and order the kit, but what is library x? Ummm, does that
mean, "one of the libraries"?
🙂
I'll do a search.
thanks,
Steve
What you need is the Animation Support Libraries, without a doubt! This
developers kit includes C and Visual Basic Programmers reference manuals for
the Windows Player, Fliclib and File Format manuals, Code examples and other
support files, POCO and POE reference manuals, and more. You can order this kit
directly from Autodesk by calling 800-964-6432. The kit costs about $25.
