Hi there, I use the VBPLAY.VBX to playback Flics in a Win 3.11 Enviroment. It's very uncomfortable, but still faster than MCI. It is possible to use this VBX under WIN95? Anybody know about Problems with VBPLAY <-> WIN95? greetings Detlef Burkhardt

VBPLAY.VBX interfaces with aaplay.dll. There have been problems reported with trying to run full screen flics using aaplay.dll under WIN95. The fli/flc routines are growing long in the tooth, and you may want to consider alternative file formats. LAM

Yep that's right. Flic-Today is a Yesterday-Format. Do you think playin' Flics with VBPLAY.VBX/AAPLAY.DLL (not Fullscreen) will function under Windows 95? cioa Detlef

>> Yep that's right. Flic-Today is a Yesterday-Format. << i don't know about that, detlef. while is see the application of AVI and MOV files, FLC and FLI are extremely frugal formats. for example, in using animated maps for 3d studio (such as opacity maps or bump maps), AVI and MOV formats would be ridiculous in many uses. all that additional channel information would be useless, and considering CODEC issues, there are times when you don't want anything lossy affecting your maps. that aside, if one looks at VGA versus truecolor… that didn't go away either and FLC amd FLI formats are tailored for the older resolutions. like radio, i think we'll be seeing them around for some time to come. just my $2.00 worth (ain't inflation wonderful?) -dave
