Is 3ds max for NT ??? Where can I find information about it? I am a graphic artist and a win32 multithreaded developer? Is the interface better? Is it written using the opengl driver library render ability? Is it written with linear performance on SMP boxes (as I have a two processor and expanding to four) Is it possible to be on the beta list if it is on beta? (I have recently bought a licensed version of 3ds4) thanks in advance, Andrew

G'day Andrew/Ross, To answer your questions one at a time.. >>Is MAX NT? 1.Yes MAX is a native NT application >>Info on MAX 2. Do a search in the Libraries here on the keyword MAX to get all of Autodesks press releases/ Info on the product >> Didn't understand the question but.. 3. MAX is I believe Heavily multithreaded >> Is the Interface better 4. The interface is VERY Windows, and MUCH much better, with everything at your fingertips. >>OPENGL?? 5. MAX uses a faster graphics system than OPENGL I believe called Heidi! >> Multiprocessor?? 6. Max does make great use of dual Pentium machines, and throw in a GLiNT board for incredible real time performance when modelling, real time previewing or just working in Rendered mode all the time. >> Beta Program? 7. Contact Autodesk in your Country if you wish to be an Autodesk Beta site for any Autodesk products, but previous 'true' beta test experience is a must, so apply and try your luck! I saw MAX at Siggraph and it truly stole the show, the above answers are from what I remember being shown at Siggraph, and could of course be entirely wrong 🙂 Check out the press releases here, as well as the screenshots for the full story… Regards, Peter

>>Is 3ds max for NT ??? Yes >>Where can I find information about it? >>Is the interface better? you can find all press releases/public info here in the forum by searching the libraries under the keyword "MAX" – there are several screen grabs of the new interface as well. >>Is it written using the opengl driver library render ability? No. It uses HOOPS (or is it HDI? Brain cramp here). Anyhow, it's not OpenGL. The driver was developed by ADesk and is supposed to be faster than OpenGL. >>Is it written with linear performance on SMP boxes (as I have a two >>processor and expanding to four) No idea on this yet. Information on this is a lot further down the road. From what I've seen concerning other products, the 2nd process increases throughput by 40% to 80%, and then things start dropping off fast. Only time will tell on this. >>Is it possible to be on the beta list if it is on beta? (I have recently >>bought a licensed version of 3ds4) From similar messages, it sounds like the beta team members have already been chosen. LAM
