Filling a technology gap || || between tools that create still imagery \/ \/ and tools that edit and assemble digital video, Animator Studio offers an artistic approach to the integration of paint, animation, and sound. With an estimated street price in the U.S. of US$295, Animator Studio Release 1.1 is targeted at general computer enthusiasts and is available through major software distributors and retailers. Autodesk Animator Studio offers a unique combination of 24-bit 2D paint and animation, digital video, and audio tools for creating and editing the media that comprise most interactive and multimedia applications. "Animator Studio represents the only complete set of 2D multimedia tools in a consumer package," said product manager Brent Blackett. "With the reduction in price, and support for both Windows 3.1 and Windows 95, we're making a powerful suite of paint, animation and sound tools accessible to consumers who want to create multimedia content for presentations, worldwide web pages, personalized screensavers, digital business cards, etcetera." Animator Studio is comprised of the following integrated modules: The Animator module: The primary module of the program, Animator lets users create and edit digital movies, paint on individual frames of an animation, and combine digitized video segments with text, animations or other video clips. An array of paint tools including colors, filters and transparency effects can be applied, either to single frames or as time-based effects across entire animations. The Soundlab module: A powerful set of audio capture, creation, and editing tools makes it easy to integrate sounds and movies for playback as QuickTime or AVI files. Sophisticated editing features include separating the pitch and tempo of a soundtrack, for easy synchronization of audio and video. The Scriptor module: This module lets users build and edit scripts that use any combination of digital video, animations, still images, and sounds. The Scriptor module makes it easy to create entire multimedia presentations and productions. The Player module is a stand-alone environment that lets users play back movies, sounds, or complete scripts built in the Scriptor module. The Player module is freely distributable, making it easy to share finished work via CD-ROMs, diskettes, online services, or as a component within any digital presentation. "For me Animator Studio is the ultimate 2D `workshop' for multimedia. It combines the best part of a QuickTime/video editing package with great painting, image utilities and special effects tools," said Stuart Gold, whose San Francisco-based company Shadow and Light Productions creates multimedia content for business and entertainment applications. "In addition to using Animator Studio to produce the opening animated sequence for Mindscape's new NCAA Football game, I've also spent hours creating goofy animations, `home movies' and personal screensavers at home with my 18-year old son. This product represents an elegant combination of power, ease-of-use, and just plain fun!" Additional Features The Animator Studio plug-in architecture can incorporate Adobe Photoshop(TM)-compatible filters, to be used as "inks," for animated image-processing effects. The product also includes a Digital Clip Library on CD-ROM, containing more than 400MB of images, animations, and sound clips, which can be edited and distributed royalty-free. An on-line info system makes it easy to learn Animator Studio on the fly, with context-sensitive help functions and customizable examples of all major features and applications. System Requirements Autodesk Animator Studio Release 1.1 software runs on IBM(R) 486/66 and Pentium(R)-based computers or 100 percent compatibles equipped with Windows 3.1 or Windows 95, 8MB of RAM, and a hard disk with 40MB of available space.
