Need YOUR B150 config

I have two questions. I've been experiencing very slow reads on a Bernoulli 150 cartridge that has seen hundreds of files written, deleted, and rewritten over time. I've been trying to identify the cause of the slow reads, and am now in the process of locating a low-level device monitor, to allow me to see individual sector requests; this may help me pinpoint my problem. Question 1: DOSTrace.lha seems like a good candidate, but my LHA extractor (LX 1.03, from 1992) complains that "LX does not support level 2 headers". I wonder what LHA program I should use to extract DOSTrace? In addition, I wonder if I screwed something up a few months ago, when I updated the HDToolbox drive parameters to the values read off the drive; for the year until then, I'd formatted cartridges using a set of parameters that came from, well, I can't remember. In the spring, I thought that since reading the parameters off the drive gave a different set of values, the ones from the drive should be more reliable and efficient than the ones previously stored, so I updated the drive definition accordingly and reformatted the cartridge. I don't know if this is what caused my problem, so here's my request: Question 2: would anyone using a Bernoulli 150 kindly enter HDToolbox, and tell me the drive parameters they see? It would be a great help in experimenting to see if I can once again bring the carts up to speed. Thanks. Blaq!

Blaq!, I can't help you with number 2, but wrt number 1, you should be using LHA138.RUN from the Archivers library of AmigaUser. It's a self-extracting archive. Just download it, put it where you want it, and type LHA138.RUN to decompress it. (As if you didn't already know that ;-). Brian Been there…. Done that…. Better.
