Thanks again Betty, I guess I'm going to be a pain 'til I get up to speed. I
unpacked autopilot using the routine you gave me. It seemed to work okay until
I tried to come online. Then it wouldn't ask the modem for a dial tone.
(bocafax 96/24 modem) I tried the modem setup codes as well as I could (tried
several versions) and it still won't work. I am now going to unpack it again
and see it that changes anything. If it doesn't, I'll download it again and go
thru the whole process again. If you have a reccomendation, it will be
welcome./exit
William,
Look at your serial prefs and see if you have flow control set to RTS/CTS. That
can make a difference. Be sure you have a phone number typed in and selected,
and set with the right speed, on your SETUP screen. If you are calling a
CompuServe node, you should not need to do anything at all to the setup codes.
Just type in the phone number, then make sure you have selected some things for
AutoPilot to do, and then click on 'Go Online.'
I've never used a BocaFax modem, so I don't know whether it has any special
needs.
You do need to send it '&F&C1&D2&W' before you try to sign on. This writes
these codes to the modem's memory chip – the F resets it to factory settings,
the C1 I've forgotten, but the D2 lets it hang up properly. The W tells it to
write this to the modem's memory.
