I have an Amiga 3000 and was wondering what it would take to get a decent modem
at a good price that worked in the Amiga, and what software could be used to
get to Compuserve/Internet.

Virtually all external modems will work with your Amiga. When you buy one
you can use a good PC modem cable with it also. I'm using a Supra 14.4 FAX
modem, and it works perfectly well. Others prefer USRs, and still others like
other brands.
As for software, I'd suggest you d/load IINST151.LHA. It will tell you what
software you need to get to the Internet through CIS, and will also install it
for you fairly easily (I haven't done this yet, but others have with good
success).

Randy, any standard EXTERNAL modem will work with the Amiga. I'm not sure you
can still find an internal one, though. Someone made one, but I don't think
they are available now.
For CompuServe, we always recommend AutoPilot. You'll find a working demo of
it in AmigaVendor, Library 9, AP.LHA.
For the Internet, download IINST151.LHA from Library 4 (or was that 5?) of
AmigaUser. It will tell you just which files to download, and will then
install them for you so that they work properly.
