#External Floppy Hookup?

Greetings, all. I hope this question is not _too_ redundant…
I have recently liberated a 880k floppy from my A2000 (put another HD in the
spot), and bought an external floppy frame (with all req'd cables) to house the
now naked drive.
I know there's a 'DISK DRIVE' connector on the back of the A2000, but when I
connect the external drive and power up, nothing happens, and the drive is not
recognized. What am I doing wrong? I have a hunch something's needed in the
MOUNTLIST, but what settings are correct? There's no entry for DF0:.
I removed the jumper inside the A2000 (right near the floppy cable connector)
that tells the machine it has a DF1: when I removed the drive, and all boots
normally.
Other vitals: The system is an A2000 with a Derringer '030, 3.1 OS.
Oh – I also have an A500, 2.1 OS, running a BBS. Will the drive work with that
machine, as well?

There must be correct cabling for the external drive and it also has a setting
jumper to determine it's device code. Look at the jumper, usually near the
floppy cable, and see what options you have.

I'm assuming the 'external floppy frame' is essentially the guts from
an external Amiga floppy drive. You can't just connect a bare drive to the
external drive port without a couple chip's worth of glue logic. If you
are in fact using an old Amiga external drive, the other thing to check is
the drive address jumpers. When a drive is internal, the drive's address
is set to either 0 or 1… external drives are all set to 0. The cable is
wired to daisy chain the addresses.

Your assumption is correct.

That must be the trouble. The drive was DF1: while inside the A2000, with the
jumper (on the drive) set as such. I did not change it upon installing it in
the external frame.

Hmmmmm.
the A2000 floppy is jumper-selectable as DS0,1,2 or 3. Yes, it's DS, not DF on
the drive itself.
I changed the jumper to DS0 and powerwed up again… Still no recognition.
Any other suggestions?
