#Production Rates??
2 messages in this thread
Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what to charge for multimedia
projects? I realize that costs probably very widely from area to
area and from project to project, but how do you go about it? Do you
have an hourly rate; if so, what is it? The projects I'm talking
about are things like kiosks for malls, airports, and perhaps auto
dealerships. There doesn't seem to be a lot of this going on in
Oklahoma City. I know this is a very general question, so please
bear with me. I do video productions now, but I want to get into
multimedia in a bad way. I would appreciate any input from all!!
Thanks,

Kevin,
Yes, you are correct, it is a very general question and not really
possible to answer but there are certain things that you can consider:
The range can be anywhere from $10,000 up to $100,000. The first and
so far last kiosk I worked on had a budget around $16,500 which
included my work in s/w design, database building, video digitizing,
image scanning and graphic creation, the use of a development
computer, the kiosk computer, use of a kiosk printer, service for 3
months, a custom made kiosk (a 7 foot shoe), a bribe, consultancy
fees and profit. This project lost money but was designed as a
prototype.
Production houses tend to charge in the range of $50 to $100 per hour
of development time plus expenses. So all you have to do is calculate
how long it will take…
You might want to drop by the Multimedia forum for more input if you want
more info.
