Dave, I bet it will work fine if you move the jumpers back to original settings (ie only identify df0) I can not find the original message, but remember that it referred to both the "real" C= and chinon clone HD drives for the A3000. There is some electronic sync signal from the drive which tells the system that a HD disk is in the drive unit. The jumper set for df1: causes the mother board to over-ride this pulse train, making the computer think it sees only a low-density drive. The original message talked about how many users followed the A3000 manual and moved the jumpers, then complained to C= about defective drives (the message originator was amused!) If I remember the discussion of the original message, the A3000 mother board circuits are the problem, by NOT using the flip-flop circuit activated by the jumper, everything works fine. The circuit was somehow flawed, but since 99% of all original A3000 had only one low-density drive — it went un-noticed by C=, what a suprise!!! Hope this helps– I suspect your really have a HD drive. Like I said, I cursed Software Hut for selling me a bad drive for months– I owe them a big apology. They have keep the faith for a long time and TRUELY should be commended.
