#HELP/ANIMATION
8 messages in this thread
I wonder if there is anyone who can answer this question for me. I have just
completed my first animation using Deluxe Paint III, and I would like to upload
it so that people can have it for their viewing pleasure.
My question is this: After indicating what protocal that I want to use, I am
prompted to indicate what type of file it is. I am
(oops) I am not sure what to put. Does anyone know what the file type is when
an animation ids created using DPaint III?
My other question is: Does anyone know how to ad a sound byte to an animation
(I dont have a midi, but I do have sound files)?
Thanks in advance for helping a budding animator!

Jon,
I am a cel animator and use my A3000 extensively as a pencil tester. That
includes sound. Take2 is a dream program for me. So is Showmaker – an old but
unsurpassed program for combining up tp 5 tracks with your picture. Scala will
do it too but only one scene at a time. I have made dozens of commercials that
played the next day on the air completely on Showmaker (from Golden something
or other).
Paul, still on PC-TASK because I can't figure out AutoPilot.
Paul,
<<Still on PC-TASK because I can't figure out AutoPilot.>>
First, talk to Betty Clay/SYSOP 76702,337 , there's all the help you'll ever
need figuring out AutoPilot.
Second, what version of PC-Task are you using. I have a registered version 1.12
and can't figure it out. I downloaded DOSCIM 2.23 and when I tried to run (or
maybe I should say walk, or crawl, or stand still) it, the thing was sooooo
sloooooow it's ridiculous, I mean when I hit the ALT key just to pull down a
menu the hard drive comes on for 30 seconds (compuserve charges by the minute
you know) so this is unacceptable.
I also tried to install Quicken but it won't even run the install program. On
another program whenever I go to enter my Setup information (you have to do
this before you can even use the program) I type in several characters then all
of a sudden the curser jumps back to the beginning of the text entry box and
all the characters I had entered have disappeared. I never have gotten past
that screen.
So far the only thing I can do with it is use MSDOS to read and copy disks and
transfer between the PC side to the Amiga side, which is cool because I don't
have CrossDos so I needed something that would handle cross platform transfers
anyway.
Sorry to bog you down with my problem but I thought it was kinda ironic that
you and I have the complete opposite problem. BTW my AutoPilot works fine, I
highly recomend it.

Paul,
Thanks for the info, I'll keep my eye out for the software. I've seen Scala
advertised, but I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for Showmaker.
BTW, I had trouble with Auto Pilot as well, so I found a wonderful program
called NComm
It's very easy to use, and it's the only term program that I've found which
can operate on all BBS's. NComm is shareware, so you can probebly get it most
any where.
Good luck, and thanks again for the info.

Jon,
Your animation is an opcode 5 or anim 5 animation.
Probably the easiest way to add a sound byte to your animation on your 600
would be to play the sound simultaneously with another program. Ain't
multitasking great? I use playsound. Another program from the DPaint III era is
DeluxeVideo. I bought them both as a bundle six years ago. It was a pretty cool
program at the time (actually still is although the competition has surpassed
it). With this program you can string together anims and stills, add sounds,
midi and titling and even create interactive programs. It should work fine on a
600 with some memory. Scala is even better than this. Does everything DV does
and then some. I did some awesome presentations with Scala on a 500 with an
ADSpeed, 1 meg chip and 4 megs fast ram. Should run on a 600.

<…the easiest way to add a sound byte to your animation…>
Richard,
Thanks for the information. I've seen Deluxe Video for on consignment at a
local Amiga Store. I'll have to grab it quick!
<Ain't multitasking great?>
Yeah, I've been able to do alot with my little Amiga 600. It was nice being
able to buy a bare machine and then upgrade at my leisure. I'm
now at 4megs (2chip & 2fast) and that seems to do well creating animations.
I'm going to upload my animation without sound, and when I'm done with the
sound I'll upload another version.
Thanks again for the help Richard! 🙂

Jon,

Look for a program called 'take two'. this will also put sound on your anims.
Its spot on to a single frame.

Ted,
Thanks, I'll do that.
