#3d studio to quicktime
7 messages in this thread
Does anyone know if DeBabilizer or the Quicktime IPAS successfully converts a
series of 756X486 TGA files to high quality Quicktime movie for importing into
a Mac-based non-linear editing system such as Media 100 or Avid? We are
looking at getting one for post-production, and I want to continue to use 3ds
for animations.
Thanks in advance,
Paul
Don't the Avid and Media 100 do that themselves? I know someone with a Media
100, and glancing through his documentation, I saw file input format lists that
included TIFFs and TGAs. Are you looking to avoid rendering individual TGAs,
and just render an AVI or Quicktime right out of 3DS?
Thanks for the reply. Good news.
Since I don't have the new system yet, I don't know what its limitations are
going to be regarding bringing in sequential files. I have used the Avid Media
Composer. I have my doubts on ease of use, based strictly on my limited
experience on it. I will soon be trying out the Media 100, which looks
promising at this writing. I was told by the dealer tht it will take
DeBabilizer. Maybe that's what it takes to import sequentially. I'll ask him
about what you discovered in the manual.
By the way, how does your friend like Media 100? Perhaps that discussion is
for another forum. You may reply by mail if you like.
Thanks again,
Paul

Better also check aspect ratio lest you get squished Quicktime movies.

Thanks, Robert.
Quicktime is going to be new to me. Better to know the quirks now.

Paul-
I ordered a Media 100 system a few weeks back and should have it soon. You will
need to render .tga files, get them to the Mac, use Debabilizer to create a
Quicktime moview (no compression), then open in Media 100 using it's codec.
I have tried this using my dealer's system and the results are very very good.
Ray-
Thanks Ray, thats good news. I'll try it when I demo.
