#animation for cd rom
3 messages in this thread
I have not done any work to go to CD ROM before, but I have a job that just
came up that will require just that.
I would like any suggestions as to what I may need to consider before I start
this project. The animation is only to last 10 seconds. The client is going
to want to add sound, but I think they are going to take care of that part, but
if not, what should I consider? Things I would like to know:
1) What is the best method to use to get the animation to play from the CD..
do I use aniplayer? Do I put that into the CD somehow? What is the normal
procedure for that?
2) Would it be better to keep the file size down by making the animation 15
frames per second? And what do I save the file as.. a .flc?
3) If there are any shortcomings I may expect, or if any of you have done this
and can hand down some advice, I would appreciate the input!
Thank you.
James,
Are you supposed to provide someone with a working project on CD? If you're
just supplying a developer with animation then they will normally tell you what
format they'd like it in. FLC's work fine if the CD will only be played on a PC
but if it's to be multi platform then quicktime is the easiest route.
Normally you'd use some sort of authoring package like Director or Toolbook to
put your project together. With an authoring package you typically just place
your animations and text and it takes care of the dirty work. Most of it.
Hope that helps some.

Thanks Dave, for the info on the CD Rom. I have Multimedia Toolbook, and you
say this seems like the best route? The client wants me to provide a 10 second
animation (simple one) as a pretest to see if they can make it work, they are
not sure what to use to get it on the CD and make it work, this is their first
attempt at anything like this, as well as mine. Thanks.
