Flyer drives & Ships

I have no doubt an off the shelf 9 Gig drive worked great. I have personally used 1 Gig Quantum Empire drives (actually even a 512 MB version of same) with fine results. The point is that the conditions these drives were asked to perform under were VERY restricted (restrict the drive to the outer 1/3 to keep data rate up, no real time seek performence requirements, toleration of drive induced frame dropping, etc.) The point I am trying to make is that the flyer is an EXTREMELY complex system, just coming out into its initial release. At this point in time, the technology to provide flyer level functionality is cutting edge, and the last thing I want to see is anyone having trouble with their flyer due to specific hard drives. I think that there will probably be enough V0.9 problems that factoring any questions out of the equation is worth it, in addition to the currently unknown (as far as I know) policy towards 'unsupported' drives and firmware revs. This all may be moot if the flyer will not format a drive that's not on 'the list'. To Gary and all who have read this far: I have it from a reasonably reliable source (Tim Jenison) that the V0.9 run began going out the end of last year (this was at the NewTek new years eve party), so some of these questions and problems should begin having concrete answers. Also, I would like to hear from anyone who has used a flyer in house (or at least outside of NewTek) in regards to the product performance (good or bad).
