Hello, Hope you are the right man to help with this, if not, sorry to waste your time and could you possibly point me in right direction for help? Problem: Can only get 640×480 resolutions (in any number of colours) to work with either 3ds V.3 or V.4. All other screen sizes give 'double vision' scrannied screens. Need to run at least 800x600x256 to use certain Ipas routines with V.4. What am I doing wrong? Vibrant driver: 1.06.P4 Machine :P90 with 32Meg. Using Smartdrive. Graphics Card: Diamond Stealth 64 with 4 Meg RAM, PCI, Video Bios: Stealth 64, Vers 1.05 (08/4/94). Vesa support: 1.02 S3 Monitor: 17" Taxan ergovision 885LR. The Vibcfg says that it supports the Diamond Stealth, but only the 640×480 resolutions work. I get exactly the same problem with the Vesa settings, and RCPADI won't let me use a sensible font size as I have left the Materials editor at 640x480x16M (I don't want to run the rest of the program in 24bit colour and this is the only screen size I can get working) and I also don't need to render above 640×480. Is my problem the monitor ? I can get windows working in all resolutions. Please, any help would be most welcome. Yours, Nick

If you are referring to the Stealth 64 DRAM. You're right, it will only work with 640×480. Go figure. The one that passed through here didn't even acknowledge the S3 chip.

BTW, I was using the newest 1.08 drivers here on the forum and they wouldn't work for this board. This Stealth 64 DRAM card is the latest junk being offered by MICRON as standard equipt. I was very suprised. I just bought 2, 8K machines and they came with this lousy card. Lee

Sorry, should have said, card is VRAM 4Mg (unless I've been ripped off). Does this still mean that there is no way round this problem ? Nick

I'm using the VRAM 4M card and I am using the Video VRAM driver supplied with 3DS and this one works perfectly.

Are you out of interest using a 17" or bigger monitor ? I'm wondering if this might be my problem (but I'm frankly clutching at straws). Nick

Panic over. Problem was combination of monitor memory settings being confused by either a game or by Windows. Some extreme manual adjusting seems to have cleared it for now. Thanks for your help, Nick

Glad to hear you're prpblems are solved. I sent the video cards back to Micron and will put Video VRAM 4M cards in these machines as well. We are using 17" monitors.

Might be worth having a peek at some of the Matrox cards. I vaguely remember from when I was shopping for my beast, that they had some 3D specific hardware functions built in. I didn't buy one though, assumed that the Stealth would be better supported all round as it was appearing as standard in so many machines. That was quite a while ago. Good luck, Nick

Nick, Try downloading the newest Vibrant drivers and see if they help. The file is VIB3DS.ZIP. Mark
