There is a work around to solve the Win Tab driver problem. It has been posted for several months on this forum but it seems like Autodesk refuses to try it. It works! Instead of using wintab 2.5, use the previous version release around spring of 1989. The driver then was called SummaDriver, no version number. The driver works correctly with all the tools, the only problem is that this driver will not work with Photoshop 3, so you have to use the new wintab driver v.2.5 when you boot Photoshop. The real problem , and I don't understand why Autodesk won't acknowledge it is that Animator Studio versions 1 & 1.1 are not ready. The CEO of Autodesk has stated that they made a mistake in releasing Autocad 13 too early when it wasn't ready, so why don't the tech people at Autodesk refrain from suggesting impossible cures for software that is "Not Ready for Prime Computing"?

Hi Dave, Need HELP! Is there a program that will convert .flc files to .exe files like the old FLI2EXE did. I need to make a .flc into something that does not involve a .zip file. It needs to be a .exe or at least a file that needs no extra information from the user to play the .flc. I hate converting it to a .fli as we all know that it loses a lot. Any help appreciated. And as usual…need this ASAP..doesn't everyone 🙂 Checked the CIS CD and could find nothing, at least nothing that seem to be able to do this. Need something that the user just types the file name and the .flc plays. Thanks for any help….nice to talk to you again…………………………………Jane

Hi Jane, PMJI… if i understand your question correctly, just go to the back of the tutorial manual for Ani-Pro and there is an extensive chapter on batch file scripts. All the user has to do is type the name of a batch file at the prompt and the FLC fires up. What is great about the batch file scripting is that you can string anims together and program color fades, thus eliminating palatte disparity/play problems. Also, if you want to get really funky, you can write branched tree batch file, and the user will have interactivity and be able to choose what direction in the anim sequence/story they want to go. Primitive, but fun. Jeffrey

Well Jeffrey!!!!, Tell me it is really you 🙂 Yes, I know that and that works fine if It was to be done on a computer that you are sitting in front of or had the stuff on a disk to pop into the computer. But this is to be d/l'd to others that may know absolutely nothing about how to unzip a program or even what a zipped program is. So it has to be something that will play by typing its name. OK , example. You know nothing about computers except how to turn them on and mouse through windows. Now you venture out to say CIS and see a graphic file that you want to look at. No where in your experience have you had to do anything but mouse a file and it runs. Now you get a file that has a .zip extension. You mouse it to death, and nothing happens. Ok suppose someone tells you that you have to look at this file in DOS. So you go to DOS and type its name and again nothing happens. (you say..well DOOM word when I do that !) SO you say 'all this stuff is for the BIRDS!' and delete the file. But if you have a file that is an .exe file and you are in DOS and type its name…it then gives you what you were after…a flick to view. That is why I want something that will play when its name is typed. GEE! Glad you are still around and one piece. Have missed you :)………………………Jane

howdy Jane… yes, and lost in projects. Anyway, with the .bat files, all your lost individual would have to do is download an uncompressed flc and the .bat… oh hell, you are right, you can lead a horse to water but they are very hard to drown. Just call them on the phone and sing "I can't get no, ba ba bahhhhhh, satisfaction". What about giving them a .txt file they can read for instructions as to what to download and what to do next. Hi Jeffrey, WHAT makes you think they can read!! Yes, we know they have a telephone or they would not have a modem and could not d/l anything. Did re-read the Ani section and no, that only helps if people know how to do things. A d/l is a zip (normally) file. If I was AOL then it would be un-zipped on d/l, but I ain't AOL, I am just Jane with a web page and a flick d/l that needs to be fool proof. Think I have done it only time will tell. Glad you are around. I may have some 3ds questions for you later when I get all this other stuff DONE! Projects! Projects! Projects! I lost none my projects on Friday the 13th when I had a piece of Software over-write all programs that were WINDOW programs. 3DS and AniPro came through with flying colors…and intact! Thank GOD for big favors… I have AA on another computer and I have been looking at it again and again am surprised just HOW good it was! :)…………..Jane

Hi Jeffrey, Well I feel very stupid as the solution was hitting me right in the face and I could not see it. The solution was PK204G and the ZIP2EXE. Now I had use this a lot when I was using AA but as things got upgraded and windows step in and AniPRo came along, I forgot that an animators best friend is Scripting and POCO and PK ZIP2EXE. So now that Jane has recalled what she needed for what she is doing, I hope that others that need to do the same thing..remember our best friend..PKZIP! and register their copy. A friend in need is a friend in deed. Jeffrey, you do tend to make me think….:) ………..Thanks……………………………..Jane

PKZIP itself allows you to convert files to a self extracting EXE. just got in this morning so hope this doesn't reach you too late. 🙂 -dave

Hi Dave, I solved the problem. There were really a .FLC and a tune.exe and a read.me file and a runme.me file. At first I thought all I needed was to make the .flc an exe file. But then I had to assume that the person d/l'g the file knows something about doing this kind of thing..and as usual you cannot assume anything with regard to computers and d/l'd files. I wrote a DOS bat file that worked great for this on my 386DX33 at work. Would not work on my computer at home. SO I was wrong, I did not need to make the .flc an .exe file at all. I simply needed to use ZIP2EXE from PKZIP and make the whole thing and .exe file. That way all the person wanting to view the .flc has to do it type the .exe files name and then run the runme.bat file. I guess I made the whole thing more complicated than it had to be. But I am new at this and just learning what needs to be done so others that d/l the file will have the least trouble viewing what they have d/l'd. Why I am doing this? I have a Web page and a good friend was kind enough to let me have one of his flics to have as a d/l from my page. ME, I thought that I could just have a .zip d/l. But others told me that a lot of people that may be d/l'ng it would have no idea what to do with a .zipped file. So my problem was to make it fool proof. And I think that with what I have done, IT IS! I hope that anyone else that is planning to have a web page and offer original d/l's can use this information or if they have a problem maybe with what I have learned doing this I can help. I am going after the program that makes .flc into .exe. It is information that I see I am going to need. Thanks for the information and for all the other good help you have given me………………………………Jane
