#AA1.1/Win95 cut n paste
4 messages in this thread
I recently received v. 1.1 of Ani Studio, and it loads fine under Win95.
However, if I attempt to cut and paste videos I consistently get "not enough
memory" errors.
I'm running with 16MB RAM, and have plenty of swap space… anyone else seeing
this problem. Any resolutions?
Thanks.

there are many probably causes for this. here are a few things to check:
memory can be taken up by other applications. close down all sessions, remove
or disable screen savers and wallpaper. close out all sessions and reinitialize
Windows from scratch so that any previous use of swap file space is scrapped.
depending on the work you're doing, 16MB may not be nearly enough. for large
movie files, more RAM may be required. work in smaller chunks (segments) if
needed. most folks i knpow use 32MB or more for basic work in this application.
check you system configuration files. even though you have 16MB, all of it may
not be available depending on how it has been managed. make sure your swap file
is 50MB minimum for 16MB RAM. 50MB is not "plenty"… rather, adequate,
perhaps. i usually recommend 100MB swap for basic tasks with 16MB.
keep us up to dtae on your progress, let us know if these suggestions help.

Dave-
I forgot to mention that this happens when working with videos of ANY size.
Even a one-frame bitmap cannot be copied to the clipboard (for example, I go
through the sprite tutorial "THEDIVE.BMP" and I can't even copy the selection
of the diver).
I did go in and bump my swap file up to over 50 meg, and I even tried adding an
additional 8MB of memory. Nothing seems to help.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

i do. some basic things we might be able to try:
do you have another machine with Windows 3.x or Win95 loaded that you can test
the program on? this may isolate the problem to a specific configuration.
was AAS 1.1 the last application installed? if not, try another install. many
applications use similar support library resources and may have overwritten
what AAS needs to function.
have you tried working with a new session instead of pre-existing files? let's
see if the loading process is the problem, or if its related to particular
functions.
