#MAX Dual Screen

Max is really cool, and NT kicks ass. I'm really anticipating the 3D Glint
family of powerful chips, and Open GL stuff. But… I'm just wondering, will
MAX support the option of Dual Screen display? Like with one screen of
commands, such as Material Editors, Track View, Core Components, and all the
other basic functions. And the other monitor displaying all the view ports, or
as a rendering display. This will really be helpful since Max has so many
commands intergrated on screen.

Sorry, nothing regarding this has been announced.

I'm gonna guess that MAX *will* support dual screens, assuming your current
Windows NT display drivers do. We have about 30 NT stations currently
configured with dual screens, and all NT applications work across both screens.
NT "sees" both screens as one, big virtual screen. You can size and drag
windows to suit your tastes. In this setup, I can see doing just what you
asked.

We're using two Matrox PCI cards. Both their Impression and their Millenium
models can be installed in this configuration, and their NT drivers support it.
Works very nicely.

What display card and drivers are you using?

We're installing two Matrox MGI cards. Some of the stations have the older
Impression model; the newer ones use the Millenium. All running MGI drivers,
except for the Intergraph TD's, which use custom Intergraph drivers.
Apparently, Intergraph paid the $$ to license the necessary OpenGL code or
something. I haven't had the time to look into it, nor assess whether they're
really any better.

Does NT detect that you have two cards installed and offer the option of
extended desktop? I'm just curious at what point you specify this option. I
was hoping it might work with other cards too.
