I just added another IDE HD to my 4000/040. Had to rreplace the original. Now when I cold boot it wants Kickstart???? If I warm boot then, it comes up… no probs. Anyone know what's up? TIA Zeddock Miller

It is likely that your new boot drive takes a little longer to come up to speed than the system likes so it is not ready when the system looks for it. Some systems provide ways of making the system wait a little longer for the drive to come up to speed, but with the 4000 you only have the option of always doing a warm boot after powering up or using a hard drive which comes up to speed faster. James, Had the same problem. All the replies I got told me the three finger salute was the only answer. Seems some HD's don't spin up fast enough for the OS to recognise them. Maybe we should put it on ATG's "to do" list. Jim

Zeddock, what OS are you running on your A4000? The timeout period has been slightly increased in OS 3.1. So, if you are still runniung OS 3.0, it _may_ help to upgrade to OS 3.1. – wkc – … via AP from Hamburg, Germany
