A500 RAM

I have an A500 rev. 6a motherboard and have noticed it has spots on the
Motherboard for additional 512k RAM. What is required to install additional
RAM and get it working? Is it as simple as de-soldering the board and
soldering in the 4 chips? Is there a jumper that needs to be toggled or a
trace to be cut to enable the extra RAM? I assume that this extra RAM will be
Chip RAM.

You're close. You replace the 512K Agnus chip with a one meg one and make some
changes on the motherboard and you now have, with the 512K expansion card, one
MB of chip ram.
Don't have the exact specs for the 6a motherboard handy, but I can dig them up.

I wasn't talking about the 512k expansion card. I was referring to the
extra RAM chip traces and holes for another four RAM chips next to the original
512k of RAM on the motherboard. In other words, 1mb RAM on the motherboard.
Is it a future option which was never finished maybe? If you could check out
the "6a" specs I would appreciate it.

The best of my recollection, you need to add 512K to the expansion card bay to
see 1MB of chip RAM from the 1MB Agnus. I don't believe the 512K sockets were
every implemented.
