I've just got LenzFX 2.0 w/Inferno and am wondering: A) Am I the only one whose got it so far? B) Am I the only one having problems w/fields, buttons that won't come undepressed (not referring to their mental state), and the lack of being able to mask using .IFL files (will it ever be supported or is their another way?) C) Who invented liquid hand soap and why? Thanks in advance.

Liquid soap was invented because bar soap is non-hygenic. Too much bacteria lives and grows on it. So if you ever model a bar of soap in 3ds, be sure to include all the little bugs (just to stay on topic here <g>). LAM

>> Am I the only one having problems w/fields?<< Hi Brian, you're not alone. I posted a message 2 days ago describing my first day using LenzFX 2.0 with field rendering. No answer from Digimation, so I'm thinking to get back to Yost's Glow. Francisco.

Hi Francisco, I don't recall seeing your message. Would you please send me email with your question. I usually check email once a day or so but sometimes it's several days between ASOFT forum visits. David – Digimation

Hi David. This was my message: ————————————————————————- I received today my upgrade at last. I was anxiously waiting it because I need field rendering and this upgrade was suposed to do it well. But with my first trying came the disapointment. I made a non-texture mapping ball moving from left to right and I applied to it: 1.- Glow by object, edge, turbo on: it doesn't work. It makes a mixed ball "mask" in both fields around the ball wich make jitter-movement 2.- Glow by object, whole image, turbo on: works well except a slight change in density from one field to another (inferno was turned off) 3.- Hilite by object: works well. 4.- Flare: assigned to an omni light, makes the field render reversed while the ball rendered well. Those test was made from scratch in a very simple scene, a ball and an omni light. I wonder if i'd had tried with complex scenes… Please help. Am I doing something wrong? I hope so…, if not, please fix that weirdness in next version. Thanks, Francisco. Spain

In response to your list of concerns with LenzFX 2.0, I have one correction to make. In your statement (numbered "4") about using Flare w/field rendering, [I was also anxiously awaiting field capabilities], the Flare error you are seeing is not reversed fields, but a miscalculation of the position of the intermediate field. I did extensive testing with a simple scene such as what you also did. I tried reversing the order of the fields in 3DS and in PAR and it doesn't make a difference. Flare is not correctly interpolating the intermediate position of the "half frame". To demonstrate, create a simple 3DS Keyframe file with a pole and an Omni lite on top of it. Make it a 2 frame sequence–frame 0 and frame 1. At frame 0, position your Camera so that the pole and light are at the left side of the screen. At frame 1, move the target of the Camera so that the pole is now all the way to the right side of the screen. Now apply a Flare to the omni light and render your (super-long) 2 frame animation with fields on. At frame 0, you will be able to see the pole flickering between the left and middle of your screen–depicting the correct "half frame" position in the middle. But, what's this?–the Flare on your omni light will be flickering between the left and only 1/4 of the way to the right, lagging behind the pole. Voila, the secret of the Flare-Field problem! But unfortunately not the answer. I hope they fix this one in Version 2.01. I was expecting correctly working fields in 2.00. Cheers, Brian DeMetz An"AMAZE"tion Co. p.s.-See super-sophisticated diagram depicting frame #0 outcome, below: * * | | | | | | | | | |

>> Am I the only one having problems… I've had nothing but problems trying to do some very simple stuff w/ Lenzfx 2. It seems everything I need to do with it ends in total frustration… from random crashes, occlusion problems, glow problems, and simple (small) glows taking 20 minutes to render, and don't even get me started on Inferno. I tried calling Digimation earlier in the week, but they were all out of town for the week. I'll be calling on monday to see what the deal is, but so far I'm one very unhappy customer. David, BLUR
