#skin and refraction
8 messages in this thread
We would like to use the Skin AXP with Digimation's Refraction Mapping IPAS.
In order to do so, the Skin AXP must be modified slightly to support MAPCON.
We would like to know if you will support MAPCON. This would involve adding a
couple of lines of code to you existing source, recompiling, and distributing a
patch to registered users. The patch could be uploaded to the net, or
Compuserve. I'm sure we aren't the only ones wanting to use the Refraction
Mapping IPAS with Skin, or even other YOST AXP's.
Thanks in advance,
Tex at Sanctuary Woods Multimedia Corporation
Hi Dave,

Gary's team is very busy at this time with 3DS MAX. Should this MAPCON dialog
include Alex Popelyukhin of Video International?
Alex…

I'd love to understand your needs on this issue.

Hi, Jonas!
Some time ago I sent short description of what's involved in
MapCon compatibility to Darrel Anderson.
He has never answered me.
Perhaps, he is as busy as the rest of Yost Group.
In short, if there are two AXPs involved, second one should know where
output of the first one is.
So, first AXP (say, Skin) should be adjusted in order to cooperate with
MapCon. It means MapCon should know prototypes of all shapecreating
functions and be linked with the correspondent obj file (compiled by
MetaWare only). In plain English: all shapecreating functions of (Skin) AXP
should be placed in one cpp file and compiled by Metaware, with the resulting
hpp and obj files we can recompile MapCon to become Skin aware.
As a result, Skin will be compatible with Refraction Mapping and Aurora and
any other AXP for that matter, which can take advantage of MapCon.
Oleg and I, we both will attend AU,
you can find us at Digimation booth:
we'll bring Aurora, Fractal Flow and 2D Refraction.
See you there,
Alex, Video International
Hi Alex,

Hmm.. I'll ask around.

Sorry, but I only leave my cubicle once a year to go to Siggraph. <g>

Hi, Jonas – rep of 3D Animation company!
>>Sorry, but I only leave my cubicle once a year
Alright, cubicle can be accepted as a so-so 3D,
but not leaving it can not be accepted as an Animation by any means. <g>
Get animated,
Alex, Video International
The people you probably need to speak with are Darrel and Jeff Anderson (BRAID)
the cis number is: 73637,723
Thanks for help on skin and mapcon. I'll talk to them.
