#LenzFX 2.0 Flares
2 messages in this thread
David,
The Flare error in field rendering that I'm sure you've heard about seems to be
a miscalculation of the position of the intermediate field for the Omni light.
Some have been saying that it is rendering the fields in the wrong order but
this is not the actual problem.
I did extensive testing with a simple 3DS file. Flare is not correctly
interpolating the intermediate position of the "half frame".
To demonstrate, create a simple 3DS Keyframe file with a pole and an Omni lite
on top of it. Make it a 2 frame sequence–frame 0 and frame 1. At frame 0,
position your Camera so that the pole and light are at the left side of the
screen. At frame 1, move the target of the Camera so that the pole is now all
the way to the right side of the screen. Now apply a Flare to the omni light
and render your (super-long) 2 frame animation with fields on. At frame 0, you
will be able to see the pole flickering between the left and middle of your
screen–depicting the correct "half frame" position in the middle. But, what's
this?–the Flare on your omni light will be flickering between the left and
only 1/4 of the way to the right, lagging behind the pole. Voila, the secret
of the Flare-Field problem! But unfortunately not the answer. Please tell me
this will be fixed in 2.01, plus adding field capability for all animated
settings (such as rotating rays, inferno effects, etc). I was expecting all
these capabilities in 2.00.
By the way, thanx for answering my last post.
Sincerely,

Hi Brian,
Your right about the field position. We did that exact same test and got the
same results. It's been fixed. Updates go out today. Thanks.
